Coronation Street reveals cover-up twist in Les Battersby death plot

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has revealed a new twist in the Les Battersby death storyline, with the soap due to air a development in the plot next week.

It was reported in October that classic character Les, who was last seen in Weatherfield in 2007, was due to be killed off screen, and the news is confirmed in this Friday’s episode (November 29).

Leanne Battersby receives a huge shock when a police officer arrives to see her and shares the news that her dad Les has died at work.

However, it appears that there might be more to Les’s death than it initially seems.

In next week’s scenes, solicitor Adam Barlow meets with Leanne, along with Les’s former stepchildren Toyah Habeeb, Fiz Dobbs and Chesney Winter-Brown, to share some news with them.

He explains that the abattoir where Les had been working has offered his family £50,000 as compensation for his death at work – so long as they agree to sign an NDA.

Chesney’s mother-in-law Bernie Winter tells Chesney that it might be a good idea to look into Les’s death further, as it sounds like the abattoir could be hiding something.

Is Les’s death part of a big cover-up?

The tragic news comes at a terrible time for Leanne, who is already preparing to face The Institute leader Rowan Cunliffe in court as he stands trial for fraud and blackmail.

As she loses her temper at the smug cult leader while she’s giving evidence, it looks like Leanne may have jeopardised the case.

Leanne is also set to discover that her sister Toyah and ex-partner Nick Tilsley have been secretly dating behind her back, as she looks into a holiday to Tenerife that Nick has booked.

Corrie‘s new producer Kate Brooks has told Digital Spy and other media that Leanne will seek revenge on Nick and Toyah in the lead-up to Christmas, explaining that Leanne “really wants to make them pay” for their lies.

“She is really intent on getting her own revenge,” Brooks said. “It can be at the detriment of her own sanity sometimes, but she wants to make them realise what they’ve done to her.

“Nick’s betrayal is one thing, but the betrayal of a sister is huge, and I just love that dynamic between Toyah and Leanne – I think it’s fantastic.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
