Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street star Jane Danson has spoken about the tense court scenes ahead for her character Leanne Battersby.
Leanne goes head-to-head with cult leader Rowan Cunliffe next week as the villain’s trial takes place.
Rowan is facing charges of fraud and blackmail after his sly actions as part of The Institute.
Leanne is determined to see justice served, as she’s still hurt by how badly Rowan manipulated her when she was vulnerable earlier this year.

Speaking about Leanne’s feelings regarding the trial, Jane explained: “She just feels a bit of a fool, really. It’s all come out and she’s realised that she’d been sucked in.
“This is the start of her trying to prove herself, her decisions and why she did what she did. She says this lovely speech at the trial, where she’s just saying how sorry she is for everything she’s done, but she was just striving to be better.
“She wasn’t trying to hurt anyone. And in the middle of that, obviously Nick and Toyah got together and it all fell apart.”
Asked whether Leanne wants to see Rowan punished, Jane replied: “I think ultimately she just feels bad for Amy because she lost all her inheritance, and it’s her way of trying to make amends with all that.

“She’s just trying to repair all the damage that’s been caused by all the stuff that’s been played out with The Institute over the past year. This is a climax to all that in a way, but it does open up some doors to some other things.”
During one heated moment in court, Rowan goads Leanne by smirking in her direction.
This provokes Leanne into losing her temper and the case is adjourned, leaving her worried that she has ruined her chances of seeing Rowan get sent down.

Jane added: “In true Leanne style, she speaks first and engages her brain later. I like her when she goes back to the essence of the character that we first met all those years ago – that’s who she is inside, no matter what she tries to do.
“Everyone’s told her what to do and how to behave at the trial, but this is her chance to have her voice and explain. So this ends up being her right to reply.”
