EastEnders spoilers – Nicola twist in Barney’s sudden exit

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has teased a major twist for new character Nicola Mitchell in the latest episode.

The soap previously confirmed that former Doctors and Holby City star Laura Doddington would be debuting this year as Teddy Mitchell’s ex-wife Nicola.

Meanwhile, the Mitchells have declared war on the Panesars after Ravi dangled Barney over a bridge to get crucial information. In retaliation, the Mitchells set fire to the Panesars’ call centre.

Barney later placed a secret call to Nicola, despite previously telling his friend Avani that Teddy didn’t want him in contact with his mother.

In Thursday’s (October 24) episode, Harry got suspicious after overhearing his younger brother on a secret phone call. When Harry confronted Barney, the teen admitted he’d been talking to their mum.

Barney confessed to his older brother that he missed their mother and wanted to see her now that she was back from Bali.

“Forget about her! Stop being such a mug,” Harry snapped at Barney.

He didn’t listen to his older brother’s orders, with Teddy later finding a note from Barney explaining he’d gone to see Nicola.

Harry swore to his father that he’d tried to convince Barney to forget about their mum, though Teddy still blamed his older son for discussing Nicola at all.

“He still thinks she’s been in Bali this whole time,” Harry told his dad.

Teddy bitterly replied: “Now, he’s going to find out the truth!”

While viewers will have to keep watching to find out where Nicola has been, new EastEnders cast member Doddington has promised the character will make waves in Walford.

“Nicola is a complex woman who comes in like the Tasmanian Devil,” she teased. “She’s strong and completely unapologetic about who she is. I’ve been so lucky to have my Mitchell boys, Roland [Manookian, aka Teddy], Elijah [Holloway, aka Harry] and Lewis [Bridgeman, aka Barney], as they’ve taken me under their wing, and we feel like a family already. I’m loving every second so far.”

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
