EastEnders star Harriet Thorpe has revealed that her character Elaine Peacock has some “uncertainty” ahead of her wedding to George Knight.
In scenes set to air on the BBC soap next week, the Knights are getting The Vic ready the day before the wedding – but Elaine has some doubts.
She visits George’s ex-wife Cindy and asks her to carry out a plan to see if George can be swayed. Elaine wants to set up a honey trap, and Cindy eventually agrees to help.

“Elaine is thrilled and excited, as both George and Elaine are in their 60s, so they know what they don’t want in life,” Thorpe explained while speaking to Digital Spy and other press.
“This is the culmination of such a rollercoaster ride of them trying to get to this point. But always lurking in the background is uncertainty.
“And the fact that George has already kissed Cindy is a taper that has been lit and is very hard not to burn.”
Thorpe added that this takes some of the “excitement away” because “there is this lurking suspicion”.

Explaining how Elaine’s history with Cindy feeds into the deal she strikes with her, Thorpe continued: “It’s a great bargaining tool, and it gives her control for the first time, to really find out whether this matters or not.
“And I think they are enemies, but I’m never sure when Cindy says yes to anything, if it’s from the heart.
“It’s manipulative, controlling, but as women, sometimes you have to trust them for that moment. But who knows?”
Cindy goes through with Elaine’s plan and visits George to take a trip down memory lane with him, before lunging for a kiss.
However, viewers will remember that Cindy recently told David that she really loves George, and she tells George about Elaine’s plan in a bid to reclaim her power.
George is stunned and returns to The Vic to ask his fiancée for answers. Will they go through with their vows?
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
