Hollyoaks’ Grace to take a big risk in Mercedes blackmail plot

Grace Black is set to take a huge risk while being blackmailed by Mercedes McQueen in Hollyoaks.

After the soap skipped forward in time, it was revealed brothers Freddie and Robbie Roscoe were locked in a custody battle over Freddie’s daughter Lexi.

While Freddie served time in prison, Robbie was granted temporary custody of Lexi and is now fighting his brother for full custody as he deems him not fit to be a dad.

The loss of Lexi has destroyed Freddie, not least because Robbie blamed Freddie for Lexi developing epilepsy after Freddie left his daughter with Grace’s son Curtis so he could support Mercedes in the hospital during her cancer treatment.

But Grace knows that Lexi’s epilepsy was not a result of Freddie’s neglect, but of her son Curtis pushing Lexi over.

She confessed what she knew to Mercedes, and after Freddie had to inform Mercedes he could no longer source the chemotherapy drugs she needed, Mercedes is blackmailing Grace to procure them instead or she will tell Freddie what she knows.

In scenes set to air next week, Mercedes needs a huge favour from Grace as she tells her she is desperate.

While pressuring Grace to illegally secure her cancer drugs, Mercedes reminds Grace that they both have something to lose if she does not.

Later, however, Freddie brings Curtis to Mercedes as he needs an emergency babysitter – will the truth about Curtis’ involvement in Lexi’s illness come out?

Speaking to Digital Spy, Freddie actor Charlie Clapham revealed how his character’s life will be affected following the time jump.

“I don’t think Freddie will ever really change! I think he’s always going to be an adrenaline junkie, addicted to those high-impact experiences, which makes him such a fun character to play,” he said.

“I think he just gets more stylish, cooler, a bit of a better dad. He gets more grounded. I’m also growing older with him; hopefully, they don’t age me up a year!

“But I’m really enjoying it. He’s a character that just keeps on giving.”

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
