When General Hospital’s Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) was last seen in January, he was in a battle with the evil Esme Prince (Avery Pohl). The two tumbled off of a ship into the Sienne and were later presumed dead. But not seeing bodies on a soap opera doesn’t mean the characters are necessarily gone for good. In a recent interview with TV Line, Chavez was asked if he’s ruled out ever returning to General Hospital, and he replied:
No. Port Charles is a crazy place. We’ll have to see what happens.
What could happen?
Pohl left the show at the same time as Chavez, and it’s unclear whether or not she would be open to returning if General Hospital ever asked. But if the stars aligned for both Pohl and Chavez to return at the same time, how would that work out?

There are several islands off the coast of France, including Île de Bréhat and Île de Noirmoutier, among others, that enjoy a warm Mediterranean climate. It is well within the realm of possibility that there could be one, if not more, uncharted and uninhabited islands in the area, yet far from any other land masses.
In a situation akin to a grown-up version of The Blue Lagoon, Spencer and Esme could have found themselves washed up on one of these islands. Once they regain their senses and get their bearings, they’ll realize they are trapped on a deserted island. At first, they would be bickering and fighting because they’re natural enemies. But soon, reality would set in that they need to work together to survive.
They would have to make a shelter and figure out how to fish or hunt food, depending on the flora and fauna of the isle. As the weeks roll into months, with no technology or calendars available, they might feel like they’ve been stranded for years. It would be extremely difficult for both to survive because they came from wealthy backgrounds and weren’t very used to manual labor. They’ll probably try to light a signal fire, assuming they have the tools and skills to do so. But as time goes on, the natural need for human companionship will kick in, and they’ll probably find themselves growing close.
The return would be shocking
It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to then assume that they would have sex. And without access to birth control, Esme would no doubt end up pregnant, and they would have a child. It would be at this point where they would somehow get rescued. Perhaps they used large white rocks to write “SOS” in the sand. However it happens, they’ll finally return to Port Charles.
But they’ll walk into the city with a baby in their arms and their animosity behind them. This will throw Spencer’s former girlfriend Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), as well as his family, for a loop. Trina may have already moved on with someone, like Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza), and Spencer’s return would fling a monkey wrench into that. Esme might still have to pay for her crimes, but now Spencer will be defending her.
Because Spencer’s whole Port Charles life would be a shambles at this point, it would be a good excuse for him to leave for Europe, and Chavez could pursue other acting gigs while popping into Port Charles from time to time. Esme could stay and raise her new baby along with baby Ace (the Clay Brothers), and she’ll once again attempt to atone for her past misdeeds.
