It’s really annoying when your friends delete their messages before you get a chance to read them, right? But don’t worry, there’s a solution called WAMR that can help you out!
WAMR is a handy tool that allows you to recover deleted text messages and any media attachments, such as pictures, videos, voice notes, audio, animated gifs, and stickers. You can even download Statuses using this app!
Here’s how it works: Since messages are encrypted on your device, WAMR can’t directly access them. However, it can read them from the notifications you receive and create a message backup based on your notification history. So, when WAMR detects a deleted message, it will notify you immediately.
WAMR also attempts to save any media files attached to the messages. If the sender deletes a media file, you’ll still receive a notification from WAMR. It can recover various types of media, including pictures, videos, animated gifs, audio, voice notes, documents, and stickers.
However, there are a few limitations you should be aware of. Firstly, this method of recovering messages is not official or supported, so it has some restrictions that may depend on the messaging app you use or even the Android operating system:
- Text messages can only be recovered if they generate notifications. So, if you have put a chat on silent mode or you’re already viewing a message in the messaging app before it’s deleted, WAMR won’t be able to save it. This also means that messages sent before you downloaded WAMR cannot be recovered, so make sure to download the app quickly!
- If messages are not being saved, it might be because Android is terminating WAMR. In such cases, you need to remove WAMR from all battery optimization services.
- WAMR can’t save files that are not completely downloaded. So, if you’re offline or have an unstable connection, or if the sender deletes a message containing media before it’s downloaded by the messaging app, WAMR won’t be able to save it.
- If you’re not using a WiFi connection, some media files may not be automatically downloaded by your messaging app due to your settings. You can change this behavior in the Messaging app settings under Data and Storage Usage to increase your chances of recovering media files.
There may be other limitations based on your Android version or system language, especially if it’s right-to-left. If you encounter any issues, feel free to contact the app developer to report the problem so they can try to fix it.
